The Stewardship Council has issued the draft Land Conservation and Conveyance Plan (LCCP) for a portion of the Pit River planning unit for public review and comment. Comments must be submitted in writing and postmarked or emailed no later than 5:00 pm on March 28, 2018.

At its November 16, 2011 meeting, the Stewardship Council Board of Directors recommended, collectively, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) and University of California - Center for Forestry (UC) as the prospective recipients of fee title to approximately 8,320 acres of land in the Pit River planning unit, located in Shasta County. CAL FIRE was recommended for approximately 5,220 acres of land while UC was recommended for approximately 3,100 acres of land.

At its January 22, 2015 meeting, the board recommended Shasta Land Trust as the prospective conservation easement holder on the property.
Land Stewardship Proposals
On May 31, 2011, the Stewardship Council received three land stewardship proposals from organizations interested in being considered for a donation of fee title to certain lands located within the Pit River planning unit, one of four pilot sites.
The US Bureau of Land Management, California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, and the University of California prepared and submitted proposals and are responsible for the information contained therein.
Proposals are presented as is, and the Stewardship Council does not make any assertion regarding the accuracy or completeness of the information presented, nor do the proposals necessarily reflect the views of the Stewardship Council. The Stewardship Council fully reviewed and considered the proposals before recommending any organizations for donation of fee title to lands within the Pit River planning unit.
Please note that the Land Stewardship Proposals submitted by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection and the Bureau of Land Management linked below concern several planning units including the Pit River planning unit.
